WOMEN ON WATER

We’re so happy to share that Phase Two of Girls on the River is now complete, bringing our two-part project to a close. Over the course of the project, girls, young people and families have had the chance to spend time on and around the River Thames through paddle sessions, guided walks, river safety activities and simple water-quality monitoring. For many participants, it was a first step onto the water. The sessions were designed to feel welcoming, relaxed and supportive, helping people build confidence, try something new and feel more connected to the river and to each other. It has been lovely to see participants grow in confidence, learn more about river health and begin to see the Thames as a place for recreation, wellbeing, learning and belonging. A huge thank you to Thames Water’s Engage the River Fund for helping make this project possible, and to everyone who took part, volunteered and supported the sessions.

Moneywise

We're delighted to formally conclude the Moneywise project at Albion Academy and pass on our sincerest gratitude to Sir Robert McAlpine and everyone involved in supporting the grant programme. Over 800 young people took part in financial literacy sessions in order to achieve outcomes of improving awareness of modern financial risk, increasing money confidence, improving decision-making skills and building sustainable money habits. Next academic year we expect to reach 200 more Y7 students. Feedback from all project stakeholders has been overwhelmingly positive, and our surveys demonstrate significant improvements in knowledge and confidence. The project has equipped young people with skills that will support long term decision-making, while the take-home resources have encouraged conversations with families beyond the classroom. We're proud of what has been achieved. The project will leave a lasting, sustainable impact for young people in Salford, an area experiencing deprivation in the top 5% across the UK. Thank you again to Sir Robert McAlpine for your support. We hope this is the first of many opportunities to work together to improve financial resilience for young people.

ReVive Project - Crafting Change Through Upcycling

As our ReVive: Crafting Change Through Upcycling project comes to an end, we are incredibly proud of what has been achieved. Participants have continued developing their creativity while learning practical skills that promote sustainability and reduce waste. At the Bangladeshi Women’s Centre, participants completed their AQA Unit Award certificates before taking part in enterprise sessions exploring Etsy, small business ideas and how to monetise their new upcycling skills. At Stretford Public Hall, we delivered a variety of workshops including transforming old shirts into tote bags, upcycling clothing, and creating sentimental gifts using recycled picture frames and unwanted toys. It has been fantastic to see participants grow in confidence, gain recognised qualifications, explore employment and self-employment opportunities, and build friendships within their communities. We would like to thank the Renew Community Fund for supporting a project that has empowered local residents through creativity, sustainability, skills development and community connection.

Canal side for people and biodiversity

Hi! We've been prepping to start planting, and in that, we are trying to figure out what the situation on the canal side is. That includes doing a water testing training to help us learn about the water quality (pictured above), where we will work backwards to figure out what will help the water quality. We have also had champions take part in a community organising training, with 10 doing a general community organising training, and 4 undertaking a L3 qualification. One of the champions doing the L3 is focusing her listening campaign on the canal side project, and is in the process of doing this currently. This will help us to ensure that the plants and changes we make will be for people and nature.

Employability & Progression Project

We’re pleased to share a strong start to the year for our Progression & Training programme. Clients are continuing to build skills and take positive steps towards employment, volunteering and greater independence. Thanks to your support, we’ve delivered tailored opportunities that help individuals grow in confidence and achieve meaningful outcomes. Quarter 1 highlights: • 18 beneficiaries supported • 17 online courses completed • 15 CVs written We’ve also provided one-to-one support, helping clients set goals, access training and overcome barriers. Looking ahead, we’ll continue supporting clients into training, volunteering and employment, while expanding access to digital skills and accredited learning. Our upcoming Yes Chef programme will offer practical catering skills and recognised qualifications, alongside our Work & Life Skills programme. We’re also relaunching our Rooftop Garden Training Programme, offering a recognised horticultural qualification while improving wellbeing and confidence, and creating pathways into further training and employment.

KBSK Youth Cafe

It’s been crazy, fun and energetic… just how we like it 🤪 We’ve welcomed so many new faces through the doors too which is always a pleasure. No two youth nights are the same but the high energy and good vibes is ALWAYS there 💪❤️

Youth Reuse Champions: Summer Skills and Sustainability Project

We are pleased to share that the Mamacita Foundation Youth Reuse Clubhouse was officially launched on 17 July 2026 as part of the opening of our new Charity & Reuse Shop on George Street, Aberdeen. Activities have now begun, and young people are starting to engage with reuse, sustainability, volunteering, confidence-building and practical skills development through the project. The Clubhouse will provide a safe and supportive space for young people to learn, participate, build confidence, develop leadership skills and understand the value of reuse and community action. We are very grateful for the support that has made this project possible. More updates, photos and impact stories will be shared soon as the project develops.

Boxing For Brent

Over 20 in attendance today we had to use both floors and outside! its amazing what the project is allowing the community to be involved in. Not even a week in and already 32 people have completed our session. We cant thank you enough. will keep you updated.

Healthy Families

Our cooking sessions have been a huge success and we have had some great feedback from our participants. One of the children said "I had fun chopping up with the little knives" and another said "I liked eating the cheese, when cooking with Mummy" The parents also enjoyed the sessions and learnt new skills and tried new foods. They told us: "We now have the little knives at home, such a cute set" "I don't cook with my child at home, it was a lovely activity to do together" "It has encouraged me to try different foods at home that I didn't cook with, couscous and lentils, my child now eats red peppers" "Everyone has so much knowledge about cooking".

Mud kitchen and raised bed upgrade
