We currently deliver two youth work sessions a week for children and young people and open our community cafe twice a week. Our youth work sessions attract 30 children and 20 young people per week. We have a small centre and due to current restrictions and increased demand are reaching capacity very quickly. We want to offer additional sessions for children and young people so more have the opportunity to attend.
We want open additional sessions that will allow more children and young people to attend. We have a good reputation within our community and regularly have 50 children and young people attending weekly. We do not want to turn any children or young people away who are in need of our help. The funding will be spent on staffing an extra session and buying any additional equipment that is needed.
We have been delivering children's and youth work sessions in our centre for the last 5 years. Our sessions are well attended and the feedback from young people and parents is that they really value having a safe space available for them to meet and have fun. During the last 16 months we have been consistently delivering activity packs as a way of keeping in touch with the families, these have been valued and well received. We constantly strive to improve our offer and offering additional sessions is one way to ensure that more people can access our offer.
